Ideally, when you play at a real money online casino in Ghana you have a few payment methods up your sleeve. This is because mobile money options like MTN or AirtelTigo may not be available. E-wallets like Skrill, Epay and Sticpay or even cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are other options worth considering. On top of that, when you hit some decent wins you want to be able to take them home! Therefore, it is crucial that you choose the right payment methods for yourself.

Betway Cedi Online Casino Supporting MTN, Vodafone and AirtelTigo Mobile Money
In Ghana, credit and debit cards are one of the most widely offered (and used) methods to deposit and withdraw funds from an online casino or bookmaker. In addition, e-wallets and bank transfers are also supported.
When it comes to local mobile money payment options like MTN, Vodafone and AirtelTigo, things get significantly more complicated as most offshore casinos don’t support them.
An exception is Betway Ghana (betway.com.gh) which offers casino and sports betting. In addition, payments can be done using all three mobile money services. Although Betway is licensed and regulated by the Gaming Commission of Ghana, we do not actively feature them as we no longer have a player account with them. However, it may be a suitable option for you.
Currencies Available to Players in Ghana
Despite many offshore online casinos being open to players in Ghana, not all of them accept the Ghana cedi as a valid currency option. One that does is Betway – see above.
Other cedi (GH₵) online casinos are Melbet, BetWinner, 1xBet and SoccaBet. We know all of these brands. But honestly, we don’t want to be ambassadors for these sites. Maybe we’ll take a closer look at them in the future.
What to Do If Ghanaian Cedi Is Not Supported at Your Online Casino?
If it turns out that you cannot use cedi to fund your account, most of you should be able to use US dollars to deposit, wager and withdraw at offshore casinos.
When playing with foreign currencies at offshore casinos it is a good idea to keep an eye on the exchange rate so you know what you will have in your account after you deposit. If you don’t want to bother about exchange rates and the like, it’s even more worth considering a crypto casino. All gambling sites featured here allow you to place bets using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Litecoin, but also USD Tether – see Ghana Crypto Casinos below:
You will find that most guides to betting online in Ghana say that MTN is the best or most trusted payment method - that is, if you are a registered MTN mobile money user (alternatives are Vodafone and Airtel). This is true because on the one hand you can deposit directly with cedi and on the other hand there are no exchange fees.
However, if a betting site does not support GHS as an account currency, one usually switches to the US dollar as a substitute. Ultimately, it is not so important which payment method you use, as long as it suits you! Skrill or Neteller, for example, have been tried and tested payment methods at online gambling sites for years.
The question of the best payment method in Ghana can inevitably be avoided when using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum, as these are neither provider- nor country-bound.
Most online casinos and sports betting sites offer a welcome bonus - maybe even a cedi casino bonus, as is the case with Betway! In some cases, you get free spins just for registering an account. However, these free spins usually come with measly max. win caps.
At the latest with your first deposit you can claim a bonus. These offers are often staggered. This means that your subsequent deposits are also rewarded with bonuses. You can accept the bonus, but of course you don't have to. Maybe you don't even want to, because each sign-up offer is tied to so-called wagering conditions. See our bonus FAQ for more details.
You should not have to deposit extra money to fund your casino or sports betting account. All the gambling sites we feature here do not charge for deposits or withdrawals.
Third-party services such as e-wallets also do not charge any processing fees for deposits into or withdrawals from your betting account. Funding an e-wallet, on the other hand, is associated with costs. Of course, even if you transfer money with cryptocurrencies, the network fees still apply, although these are usually small.
The crypto world may have some stigma attached to it, and much of it can be traced back to bad press from governments and the media. As the saying goes: If something is badmouthed, censored, fought and then regulated to death, you should look all the more why that is the case! One thing is certain, the repression against cryptocurrencies has nothing to do with the classic reasons given by the authorities.
Simply being your own bank and holding decentralised assets like Bitcoin could be an alternative for a future monetary system. We emphasize: A monetary system that works without the influence of banks, corporations and governments - not like the digital currencies, i.e. the CBDCs, on which governments are working flat out.
Granted, all of this doesn't have much to do with casino or sports betting at first glance. What we actually want to say is that Bitcoin and Co. are exciting asset classes and at the same time a serious competitor for the dying FIAT monetary system. So why shouldn't the entertainment industry like online casinos benefit from crypto as well?
Crypto payments are largely anonymous and are completed just as quickly as with any other payment method in Ghana. Once again, it should be stressed that you are not tied to any third-party provider such as an e-wallet service. However, for those who have never had anything to do with crypto, this topic may certainly represent a learning curve.
Local Payment Methods Popular in Ghana
With mobile money services like MoMoPay, you can not only send and receive funds or pay your bills via your mobile phone, but also make deposits into your casino account. Therefore, it is one of the most popular methods, also because these services do not necessarily require an app. After dialing in (for example *170# on your MTN mobile number), all tasks can be completed following simple menu prompts. This also makes it suitable for older mobile phones. Of course, companies like MTN, Vodafone, and Airtel also offer downloadable smartphone apps.
MTN Mobile Money (MoMoPay)
MTN was the first company in Ghana to offer mobile money services and therefore has the largest network in the country. To use their mobile money or MoMoPay service, you need an MTN SIM card and activate it. This can be done by visiting any local MTN merchant or by visiting the official website. MTN also offers an e-wallet service. It can be funded using credit or debit cards, direct bank transfers, or at an MTN agent store.
How to Deposit at an Online Casino Using MoMoPay
- Dial *170# on your MTN mobile number
- Select option 2 for MoMoPay &Pay Bill
- Choose 1 for MoMoPay
- Enter the merchant ID or gambling site’s name, for example Betway
- Enter the amount you would like to deposit
- Enter your reference (again, this is the betting site’s name)
- After confirming the transaction details, enter your Mobile Money PIN
- You will receive a notification that the payment has been completed – your funds will be credited to your gaming account immediately
Alternatively, and in our opinion less complicated, you can deposit directly via the betting site. After logging into your account and selecting MTN as your payment method, enter the amount you wish to deposit and your registered mobile number.
After confirming the payment with your betting operator, you will also receive a message from MTN on your phone to approve the deposit. This is completed by entering your Mobile Money PIN.
Vodafone Cash
The British telecommunications giant Vodafone is the second largest operator in Ghana. With a good chunk of the population using their network, it comes as no surprise that Ghanaian online gambling sites offer Vodafone as part of their payment methods.
How to Deposit at an Online Casino Using Vodafone Cash
- Dial *110# on your Vodafone mobile number
- Select option 4 to make a payment
- Select option 3 for “fun and games”
- Select option 2 for the “betting operator”
- Select your reference (again, this is the betting site)
- Select the amount you would like to deposit
- After confirming the transaction details, enter your Vodafone Cash PIN
AirtelTigo Money
AirtelTigo is the smallest telecom provider of the three, but it has a large enough customer base that it is worthwhile for betting sites to offer its AirtelTigo Money service as a deposit method. Visit the official website.
How to Deposit at an Online Casino Using AirtelTigo Money
- Dial *110# on your AirtelTigo mobile number
- Select option 4 to make a payment
- Select preferred option 1 – enter merchant code/nickname that is the betting operator
- Select the amount you would like to deposit
- Enter the reference (again, this is the betting site)
- Confirm the payment using your Airtel Money PIN
Other Payment Alternatives
Depositing Using a Credit or Debit Card
- Deposit: Deposit limits of $10 up to $5,000 per transaction are in place at most sites.
- Withdrawal: Withdrawal limits are capped between $10 and $2,500 at most casinos. Some sites may have weekly, and monthly withdrawal limits are set to around $5,000 and $25,000, respectively, though not all have such limits.
- Account credited instantly: Instant deposits are possible, but withdrawals can take 3-5 working days to clear.
- Fees charged by the casino: There is not usually a charge for depositing at a casino with VISA or MasterCard, although withdrawals may be charged a small fee (at some sites), often no more than 2.5%, though this varies from site to site.
Depositing Using e-Wallets
- Deposit: Deposit limits of $10 up to $5,000 per transaction are in place at most casino sites.
- Withdrawal: Withdrawal limits are capped between $10 and $2,500 at most online casinos. Again, some casino sites may have weekly, and monthly withdrawal limits set to around $5,000 and $25,000, respectively, though not all have such limits and we’ll tell you if they do.
- Account credited instantly: Players should have their deposit land instantly in their account. Withdrawals are speedy, taking anything from under 24 hours up to 48 hours to be processed.
- Fees charged by the casino: Almost certainly not. Very few casinos charge any kind of fee for depositing or withdrawing via e-wallets. The same should be true for players in Ghana, although naturally, some wayward casinos do apply fees for withdrawals, and we recommend you avoid such casino sites.
E-wallet services supported by online casinos include ecoPayz, Epay, MuchBetter, NeoSurf, Neteller, PayPal, Perfect Money, Skrill, Sticpay and many more. Note that not all of these e-wallets are necessarily available in Ghana.
How to Deposit at a Casino
- 1) Create an account with your preferred online casino or sportsbook (the latter also feature casino games)
- 2) After logging into your account, look for the “Deposit” or “Cashier” button either at the top of the website or in the personal customer area
- 3) Choose a payment method like MTN (if available), an e-wallet option, crypto, or whatever method rocks your boat
- 4) Enter the deposit amount and follow the required steps as directed by the banking interface
- 5) Confirm your payment (you may also receive an email notification to approve the process) – deposits are usually credited instantly
Depositing at a casino as a player in Ghana is a doddle. Players first need to sign-in to their casino account and look for the cashier’s page, banking page, or deposit option. It may be hidden in your account settings or be visible next to your balance.
Straight away (if you’re based in Ghana) a list of Ghana-friendly deposit methods should pop up. You can use these to deposit into your account by clicking on them, entering your payment details (such as credit card information) and choosing a figure to deposit. Remember to select the FIAT- or cryptocurrency you wish to use if offered.
After confirming the transaction, the money should arrive in your casino account within a matter of minutes, if not sooner. For crypto deposits, it depends on the number of confirmations. However, in our experience with sites like Kosmonaut, Stake and BitStarz, the deposit was virtually instant.
KYC Procedure/Account Verification
On occasion, players may need to go through the KYC (Know Your Customer) procedure before they can withdraw. Some casinos do not permit any withdrawals until this process is complete, and others only let you withdraw up to a certain amount of cash until you complete the procedure. It is a relatively simple process. Furthermore, it is in your interest to complete verification checks as soon as possible. Once they are done, you can withdraw at any time.
The checks are there to combat identity theft and fraud. By completing them, you are ensuring the casino that you are who you say you are, and that nobody else is acting in your stead or with your identity.
How Do I Verify My Account and Identity?
Completing the KYC process and verifying your identity is an elementary process. Most casinos require you to send in two forms of identification. One of these will need to be a copy of a personal identity document, such as a passport, driver’s license or national identity card. The other can often be a utility bill, such as an electric, gas or water bill. The documents you need to send in will be clearly stated at the casino.
Players don’t need to send in the actual documents! Scanning and e-mailing them or taking a photo on your smartphone will do just fine. All casinos should allow you to upload the files directly in the personal account section. Once the casino has verified your identity (this should take a day at most), you can withdraw with ease.
Pay Attention to Wagering Requirements
Of course, there is one other thing which might hamper your withdrawals, and they are wagering requirements. We urge you to check out the wagering requirements/playthrough rates/turnover rate of any bonus you claim at a casino. Bonuses come with wagering requirements which specify that you must wager the bonus (or the bonus and deposit total) a specific number of times before you can withdraw.
For example, if you were to claim a bonus worth $100 and that bonus comes with wagering requirements of 40x the bonus amount, it means that you must wager the $100 bonus a total of forty times before you can withdraw. Therefore, the figure you must wager before you can withdraw is $4,000. For this reason, many players choose not to claim offers, or only claim promotions and bonuses with low wagering requirements which are rare to find.
